The unit is freestanding and very stable. It can be placed back-to-back or applied as a continuous application. The unit fits within the designated car area without affecting access to neighbouring vehicles. The leg and stand height are adjustable, so all floor levels and car sizes can be accommodated.
Our above bonnet storage unit is made from powder-coated aluminium for corrosion resistance. Our installers ensure that access to or operation of service and safety fittings or devices is not compromised. Storage is gained without losing valuable car space. Standard Unit Dimensions
Not every vehicle and car space are the same, which makes The Box Thing ideal. Our standard units are made from standard sizes. All standard units have an adjustable over bonnet clearance of between 1 100mm and 1 200mm.
Any combination of length, width and height is available. (Remember, the height measurement is for the actual storage box. The height of the legs for clearance over your bonnet is added to this measurement for the total unit height.)

Standard Door
This door is fitted with gas struts for easy access and has a three point locking

Security
The unit is secured via three point T-Bar locks . These locks are extremely easy to operate whilst still offering piece of mind. The doors are sealed using a special stylus tape to prevent dust, water and vermin penetration.
Various Door Options
Dual Overhead Door: Gas struts allow easy access and have an optional locking mechanism. The door hinges from the top and is sealed on the outer edges. It is ideal if an obstruction restricts a standard door.
Dual Inward Door: Each door opens to the centre. This option is best if an obstruction affects a standard door.
Hinged Door: Each door opens outward from the centre for maximum access. The doors can only be opened in sequence if the vehicle is moved. This option is best for storage cabinets as opposed to over bonnet storage.

Installation by Professionals
Installation is done by our professional installers. Units are designed to be freestanding. Our installers can fix the storage unit to the wall or floor. However, in some instances, body corporate approval may be required.
Latest Aluminium Version
Note that The Box Thing’s plastic over bonnet storage system is an older model. Due to newer, more efficient manufacturing, this version is more labour intensive and expensive than the current version.
The replacement aluminium system is much improved, with an 800 kg load capacity, keyed alike locks, a greater range of sizes and a ten-year warranty. Contact us for more information.

The Box Thing Plastic over bonnet storage system is an older model of the product. Because of newer more efficient means of manufacturing this version of the product is more labour intensive and expensive to produce then the current version of The Box Thing.

Park the vehicle in the designated space to calculate the over bonnet clearance you require. Measure from the line or wall at the head of the space and back for the intended width of the proposed unit.
Now do a vertical measurement of the highest point of the vehicle’s bonnet for the minimum clearance required. When calculating the clearance, also consider the total height of the unit, including clearance and storage height, so you have enough space for the total height of the unit.
